COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The snow came in earlier than first expected, halting the third game of Friday’s action in the Palmetto State Showdown and cancelling the final two games of the day as well. Saturday’s start has been pushed back, with the first game pitting Coastal Carolina against the College of Charleston now starting at 12 noon instead of the originally scheduled 10 a.m. South Carolina’s home opener now is set for 4 p.m. against Furman. The games that were not played will not be made up.

In the earlier action, USC Upstate defeated Charleston Southern, 2-1, behind Morgan Childers’ 12 strikeouts. Game two saw Furman take a 5-4 win in nine innings. Coastal Carolina won the third game, 6-1, after the game was stopped due to the deteriorating conditions. Games between the College of Charleston and South Carolina as well as Furman against Coastal Carolina were cancelled due to the weather.

Sunday’s schedule has not been changed.
