Hey guys!!
It’s a new year in Gamecock Country, and we’re looking forward to the start of our season! We are so excited, in fact, that we all chose to come back a week early to start preparing for our upcoming games. Our captains, Lindsay Walker and Adele Voigt, came up with the idea to come back from winter break a few days early to get some extra time on the field. We spent a few hours each day in the cage and on the field. We did everything from tee work to ground balls to hitting off of live pitching, not to mention the extra conditioning. When our first day of official practice came around, we were all eager to show the coaches the results of our hard work. Since the start of the semester, we have all been working hard to make good grades on the field and in the classroom. I know, you’re thinking that must have been a typo. Actually, I did mean that we are working hard to make good grades on the field, as well. Recently, one of the ways we have been receiving feedback from the coaches is through a grading system. We get a letter grade in each area, including offense, defense, pitching, attitude, talk and intensity. When we get a low letter grade, it points out where we need to work harder. We’re striving for a 4.0!!
Well, it’s time for me to get back to studying. We all hope to see you in February at our first game!!
Go Gamecocks!!
