WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team’s duo of Ana Marija Zubori and Madeleine Saari-Byström advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles at the Wilson/ITA Carolina Regional Tennis Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday.

Zubori and Saari-Byström defeated Herrera and Portioli from Winthrop in their first match 8-4 and then upended Behr and Dougherty from UNC Greensboro in the round of 16 by an 8-4 count as well.

In singles, Zubori advanced with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win against Jessica Cook of East Carolina, while Saari-Byström lost in three sets to NC State’s Sandhya Nagaraj 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

Play continues in the regional Saturday morning.
