COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team released its fall schedule Tuesday, and six individual tournaments are slated for the Gamecocks during September and October.
The Gamecocks open the season Friday in Nashville, Tenn., at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic. The team then heads to the UVa Invitational over Sept. 18-20 in Charlottesville, Va., and then to Greenville, S.C., for the Furman Fall Classic from Sept. 25-27. South Carolina wraps up five consecutive weekends of competition at the Michigan Invitational during Oct. 2-4 in Ann Arbor, Mich., and then the Wildcat Invitational in Evansville, Ill., from Oct. 9-11. After a weekend off, the team concludes its fall campaign at the Wilson/ITA Carolina Regional Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C., from Oct. 22-26.
Leading the Gamecocks this season is head coach Arlo Elkins, who enters his 27th season at the helm of the program. He is 400-270 in his career and led the team to the NCAA quarterfinals last year, the best finish in school history. Overall, his teams have made 15 consecutive NCAA team appearances, tied for the 11th longest active streak in the country.
