Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina senior left-handed pitcher Alex Farotto has been selected in the 34th round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox. Farotto is the fifth current Gamecock to be drafted this year along with Justin Dalles (6th, Orioles), Sam Dyson (10th, A’s), DeAngelo Mack (13th, Yankees) and Nick Ebert (32nd, Yankees).
Farotto had a stellar senior season finishing with a 4-2 record and a 4.96 ERA in 20 appearances along with a team-leading seven saves. Farotto struck out 37 in 32.2 innings with opponents batting just .214 against him on the year.
