COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Nick Ebert brought home the second weekly award for the Gamecocks today, as Collegiate Baseball named the junior one of its five Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week.
Ebert went 5-for-8 in the three-game sweep of then-No. 15 Georgia. Four of those hits against the Bulldogs cleared the wall, while he also drove in 10 runs. He also had RBI in both of the wins over USC Upstate and carries a five-game streak of driving in runs into the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
Ebert was joined on this week’s Louisville Slugger list by New Mexico’s Brian Cavazos-Galvez, Northwestern State’s Chase Lyles, Kennesaw State’s Kyle Heckathorn and Arizona State’s Mike Leake.
South Carolina begins the 2009 SEC Tournament at Regions Park on Wednesday taking on fourth-seeded Alabama at 9:30 p.m. EDT.
