STARKVILLE, Miss. – Sophomore Jill Semento picked up her first postseason award at South Carolina, as she earned a spot on the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region squad, the organization announced on Thursday.

Semento led the Gamecocks in batting average (.313), on-base percentage (.409), slugging percentage (.469) and runs batted in (24). She drew a team-best 14 walks as well while splitting time between third base, first base and shortstop. Playing a majority of games on the left side of the infield, she committed just two errors at both shortstop and third base. She also topped the team in participating in 10 double plays.

The Umatilla, Fla., native becomes the 38th Gamecock all-time to make an all-region team and the 79th selection but just the fifth player and ninth honor in the last decade. She also becomes the second-straight Carolina player to make it in the utility player spot, as Ashton Payne garnered selection there in 2008.

Six Florida players made the team, a region best, while Tennessee was second with three.
