COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina’s Dijana Stojic from the women’s tennis team has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Stojic helped the Gamecocks to a 2-0 record in SEC play last week with a pair of wins at No. 3 singles. Versus Mississippi State, she defeated Radka Ferancova 6-0, 5-7, (10-2) to cap a 6-1 triumph. She was the first to win in singles against Ole Miss with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Laura van de Stroet to start a rally after the team lost the doubles point.

A native of Makarska, Croatia, Stojic has won four straight singles matches and is now 6-4 this spring. She upped her record in SEC play at No. 3 singles to 2-4 with the victories as well.
