BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior left fielder Adele Voigt earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Voigt made 56 catches in the outfield this season, drawing starts at all three outfield positions. She made 15 starts in left during SEC play and made a team-best 39 catches during conference action. She also added two assists while making just one error. Her .976 fielding percentage led Gamecock outfielders. At the plate, Voigt ranked third on the squad with a .242 batting average during league games.

Florida led the league with four members on the All-Defensive squad, while Alabama had three. Voigt was involved with the only tie, as she shares the honor with Auburn’s Myesha Finney. Voigt also joins fellow Dacula, Ga., native and Alabama senior centerfielder Brittany Rogers on the team.

The Gators raked in the awards, landing seven players on the All-SEC teams as well as having both the league’s Pitcher of the Year in senior Stacey Nelson and the Coach of the Year in Tim Walton. Alabama had four players all on the All-SEC first team as well as the Player of the Year in Charlotte Morgan and the Freshman of the Year in Amanda Locke. Tennessee tied with Kentucky and Florida with two players on the SEC All-Freshman Team, and the Lady Vols also had the Scholar-Athlete of the Year in senior Lillian Hammond.
