COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two-time Florida 6A first-team infielder Dana Hathorn has signed a letter of intent with the South Carolina softball program, head coach Joyce Compton announced today.
Hathorn has twice garnered first-team all-state accolades from Miracle Sports as an infielder. The Timber Creek High School infielder helped her team to win the Metro Conference and district title as a junior, hitting .349 with 24 RBI. She also compiled a 3-1 record with a 0.86 ERA in the circle. During her sophomore season, she hit .396 with 28 RBI, picking up the first of her two all-state certificates while pushing the Wolves to the regional finals. Her freshman year saw her reach base at a .523 clip while stealing 20 bases. Heading into her senior year, Hathorn has struck out just 16 times in 277 at bats.
“We are excited to have Dana in our program,” Compton remarked. “She is a well-rounded player with the capability to play multiple positions for us. Dana will be a welcome addition for our 2011 squad.”
