LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The 17th-ranked South Carolina women’s golf team is in a tie for 14th place after one round of the NCAA Fall Preview at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course. The Lady Gamecocks shot a team score of 312 on Sunday and are eight strokes back of the top 10. The presitigious tournament is being played at the site of the 2003 NCAA Championships and is featuring most of the teams who played in last year’s NCAA Championships.

Junior Adrienne Gautreaux led the Lady Gamecocks with a two-over par 74 and is in a tie for 19th place. Defending SEC champion Kristy McPherson (senior) is in a tie for 25th place firing a three-over par 75. The remaining scores for the Lady Gamecocks were junior Marci Robinson (79, T61st), sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu, (84, T81st), and freshman Erica Battle, who is playing in her first tournament in her collegiate career (87, T85th).

Oklahoma State leads the field by two strokes with a team score of even-par 288. Vanderbilt is in second place with a 290, followed by Texas with a 295. Duke, with a 297, and Ohio State, with a 298, round out the top five.

Karen Sjodin of Oklahoma State leads the individual field, firing a four-under par 68. Sarah Jacobs of Vanderbilt, Janice Olivencia of Texas and Celeste Troche of Auburn are all tied for second place firing a two-under par 70. Nicki Cutler of Vanderbilt rounded out the top five firing a one-under par 71.

The two-round tournament will finish Monday with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
