COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina hits the halfway point in the Southeastern Conference volleyball schedule on Sunday as the Gamecocks face off against the Lady Razorbacks of Arkansas on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. EDT at Barnhill Arena.
The Gamecocks are 2-7 in SEC play and 9-9 overall after being swept by the fifth-ranked Florida Gators on Wednesday evening. Carolina has been led recently by freshman Megan Laughlin, who has led the team in kills in each of the last two matches. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Week tied a career high with 17 kills in last Sunday’s contest against Kentucky.
Arkansas is 9-10 on the season and 3-6 in league action after the team’s stunning upset of the Gators in five games on Friday night. Senior Jessica Dorrell has led the Lady’Backs this season, averaging over four kills a game. The Aledo, Texas, native had 23 kills, nine digs and three blocks in Friday’s triumph.
The two youngest members of the SEC have met 19 times previously, with the Lady’Backs owning a 13-6 advantage in the series. South Carolina owns two wins in Fayetteville, with the latest coming in 2002.
