GREENVILLE, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team completed play in the Furman Fall Classic on Sunday in Greenville, S.C.

The Gamecocks managed only one win on the day, which came from freshman Ashley Miller playing in flight six. She pulled off a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Keri Robison from Northwestern to claim seventh place.

In the finals of flight one, the nation’s No. 2-ranked player Ani Mijacika of Clemson defeated No. 54 Ana Marija Zubori 6-1, 6-2 to win the championship. Natasa Vuckovic lost in straight sets as well to No. 37 Caitlin Whoriskey from Tennessee 7-6(5), 6-3 in flight two, as did Jelena Rajic in flight four versus UT’s Jennifer Meredith 6-2, 6-2.

Miljana Jocic and Suzanna Mansour both lost their matches in three sets after winning the first sets. Jocic fell 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to Ania Rynarzewska of Florida State in flight three, while Mansour lost a marathon to North Carolina’s Meg Fanjoy 6-7(5), 7-6(6), 6-4 in flight five.

South Carolina’s next tournament is the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern over Oct. 10-12 in Evanston, Ill.
