AUBURN, Ala. — South Carolina’s women’s tennis team advanced two of its three doubles teams in the main draw of the SEC Fall Coaches Classic on Thursday in Auburn, Ala.
Following a bye in the first round of flight A, Gira Schofield and Ana Marija Zubori upended the 25th-ranked duo of Airapetian/Franco from Arkansas 8-5 to reach the quarterfinals. In flight B, Suzanna Mansour and Megan McGavock first defeated Bordeleau/Damaschin from Arkansas 8-2 and then Mississippi State’s Makarycheva/Saddler 8-5 to make the semifinals. Both Gamecock duos continue play at 9 a.m. CT Friday.
Also in flight B, Miljana Jocic and Natasa Vuckovic fell 8-5 in the opening round to Ferrell/Kilborn from Vanderbilt, but the Serbian tandem recovered to win 8-6 against LSU’s Dubova/Kantor in the consolation draw. Jocic and Vuckovic will play again at 9 a.m. CT Friday as well. Singles play starts following the first round of doubles Friday.
