The University of South Carolina will host its final outdoor meet of the year, the USATF State Track Meet, on Wed., April 11 at the Weems Baskin Track Facility. The meet will include South Carolina, Coker College, Benedict, Francis Marion, Morris College and a number of talented open individuals – including former NCAA champion Tacita Bass and former SEC pole vault champion Chris Steddum.
The USC women are ranked No. 4 nationally this week by trackwire.com
“It’s a low key meet that gives our kids a chance to prepare for the high-level meets ahead on our schedule including the Georgia meet Saturday, the Penn Relays later this month and the SEC Championships next month,” said USC Head Coach Curtis Frye. “Coming off the high-pressure atmosphere at Florida Relays, this is a good day for our athletes to relax, have fun and then begin focusing on their goals for the championship season.”
The meet, which is free and open to the public, begins on the track at 4 pm with the women’s 3000m steeplechase. The field events begin with the men’s hammer at 12:30 pm. The schedule can be found on the schedule page of the website.
