Fresh off the NCAA Track and Field Championships, track season continues next week for eight Gamecocks who will compete at the USA Track and Field Championships and the USA Junior Championships in Indianapolis June 20-24. In addition, Gamecock junior Jamil James will compete in his country’s National meet next weekend as well (Trinidad & Tobago).

South Carolina will have a number of former Gamecocks competing at the USA Championships as well including Miki and Lisa Barber, Demetria Washington, Terrence Trammell, Greig Cryer, Otis Harris, Kenneth Ferguson and Tiffany Ross-Williams.

The athletes competing at the USA Championships are vying for spots on the Pan American Championship team (July 13-29, 2007 – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and World Championship team (Aug 24 – Sept. 2 – Osaka, Japan). The athletes competing at the USA Junior Championships are vying for spots on the Pan American Junior Championship team (July 6-8, 2007 – Sao Paulo, Brazil).

Those competing at the USA Championships for South Carolina include:

Natasha Hastings – 400m

Thomas Hilliard – 400m hurdles

Chiquita Martin – 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles

Ray Miley – 400m

Shalonda Solomon – 200m (doubtful due to injury, but entered)

Those competing at the USA Junior Championships include:

Mike Zajec – discus and hammer
