TUSCON, ARIZ. – Three members of the fourth-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks earned All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Friday. Senior 1B Yaron Peters, senior RHP Blake Taylor and junior SS Drew Meyer were each named to the Lousiville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American second team.

A senior from Sherman Oaks, Calif., Peters is the 2002 SEC Player of the Year and is among the best in the nation in home runs and runs batted in. Peters hit his 22nd home run on Friday in Carolina’s 6-3 win vs. VCU in the NCAA Regionals. Peters is currently one home run behind Joe Datin for the single-season home run record at South Carolina. Datin hit 23 home runs in 1985. Peters also has 82 RBI, six short of another school record and leading the SEC.

Senior RHP Blake Taylor leads the nation in saves with 19 and holds a 5-1 record with a 2.12 ERA. The senior from Columbus, Ga. has struck out 60 batters in 63.2 innings pitched and is among the nation leaders in appearances with 30 this season.

Junior SS Drew Meyer has etched his name in the Carolina record book this season, becoming the new record holder at USC for hits in a season with 106. Meyer also set the school record for singles in a season with 75 as of June 1. Meyer also has 36 stolen bases and is batting a team-high .381 on the year.

The Gamecocks continue in NCAA Regional action on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. game vs. North Carolina at Sarge Frye Field.
