COLUMBIA, S.C. — Miranda Gutierrez and Megan McGavock from the South Carolina women’s tennis team will begin play in the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championships on Thursday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Gutierrez will take on Caroline Winebrenner from Kentucky at 9 a.m. in the qualifying draw. Should Gutierrez win, she would next face College of Charleston’s Laura Borza or Tennessee’s Zsofia Zubor at 1 p.m. for a chance to play in the main draw.
McGavock plays Caitlin Collins of North Carolina in the first round of the main draw Friday at 1 p.m. Gutierrez and McGavock team up for doubles at 4 p.m. on Thursday playing Louisville’s duo of Lauren Imre and Robyn White.
Gutierrez holds a 3-2 record in singles this fall and she is 3-3 in doubles. McGavock is 0-3 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles.
