Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina outfielder Cheyne Hurst will start in the 2006 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star game on July 23, 2006. Hurst, who is playing summer baseball with the Keene Swamp Bats, is batting .333 (31-for-93) with 16 stolen bases in 26 games played. Keene will host the All-Star game with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm. Hurst is on the North squad.

Hurst will be a senior on next year’s baseball team. After transferring from St. Petersburg JC last fall, Hurst was a productive part of the 2006 Carolina team with a .292 batting average, four homers, 38 RBI as well as 10 doubles and three triples. Hurst started 54 games in the outfield as well.
