Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina will have four players participating in the 2006 Cape Cod All-Star Game on Saturday, July 29 at Red Wilson Field in South Yarmouth, Mass. Will Atwood will pitch for the East squad with Reese Havens, Justin Smoak and Jay Brown (Gamecock signee) playing for the West. Smoak will also be in the home run hitting contest. In addition, the 2006 Cape League All-Stars will be recognized on August 3 at Fenway Park.

Atwood pitches for Brewster and is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA in 31 innings pitched. The left-hander from Piedmont, S.C. has made 13 appearances allowing just six runs, five earned on 15 hits. He has 24 strikeouts and a save as well. Havens, Smoak and Brown all have had success leading the Cotuit Kettleers to a first place record (22-10-1) in the Western Division. Smoak is among the Cape Cod League leaders in hitting .284 with six HR and 19 RBI to go along with 10 doubles. Havens is also hitting .284 with two HR and 13 RBI.

Brown, who is a Gamecock signee from Young Harris Junior College, owns a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in seven appearances with one save. He has pitched 22.2 scoreless innings with 20 strikeouts.
