Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina is ranked No. 19 by Baseball America and No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball in this week’s rankings released on Monday afternoon (May 8). Carolina travels to The Citadel on Tuesday with first pitch set for 7 pm at Joe Riley Park. The Gamecocks will host Tennessee this weekend at Sarge Frye Field. Friday’s game is scheduled for 7 pm and will be televised on ESPNU. Saturday’s contest is to be televised on ESPN with a 12 noon start. The Sunday game will start at 1:30 pm. All three games in the Tennessee series are also available on uscsports.com and the Gamecock Radio Network.

South Carolina had a tough week on the diamond losing all four contests with a non-conference loss at Wofford on Wednesday night and three defeats at Georgia over the weekend … Carolina is 32-16 on the year with a 13-11 SEC record, tied for second place in the SEC Eastern Division … Wednesday’s loss to Wofford marked the first defeat to the Terriers since the 1947 season … Head coach Ray Tanner was 22-0 vs. Wofford before Wednesday’s 9-8 loss in 13 innings … The Gamecocks are 4-2 this year in extra inning games.
SMOAK
Freshman first baseman Justin Smoak set a Carolina freshman record for home runs with a pair of three-run homers in both Saturday and Sunday’s games against Georgia … Smoak has 12 this season passing Drew Meyer’s old record of 11 set in 2000 … Smoak is batting .278 on the year with 12 HR to go along with 37 RBI.
CRISP
Freshman infielder/outfielder Andrew Crisp tallied a hit in each of the four games this week that extended his hitting streak to 17 games … In the 17-game hitting streak, Crisp is batting .465 (33-for-71) … On the year, Crisp is at .367 with four HR and 12 RBI as well as 21 runs scored.
CAMPBELL
Senior outfielder Michael Campbell keeps creeping up the career lists in the USC Record Book … Campbell has now played 248 career games and is just three games behind Landon Powell’s school record of 251 games (2001-2004) … Campbell also now owns 291 career hits and is 12 behind Mac White’s school record of 303 hits (1991-94) … His ninth inning double on Sunday at Georgia pushed him past both Mike Curry and Derick Urquhart for fourth place with 52 career doubles.
BROWN
Chris Brown was 6-for-12 over the weekend at Georgia including a two-run homer in Friday’s loss … Brown has returned from his back injury and is now batting .365 in 32 games played with 28 starts at second base.
