Former Gamecock Martin Rominger has received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, La. The Zurich Classic will take place at the English Turn Golf & Country Club, April 27-30.

Rominger, a native of Pontresina, Switzerland, received this exemption by virtue of his qualification on the Asian Tour as well as his swift start on the Alps Tour. After securing his card for the Asian tour in 2006, Rominger has placed sixth and seventh at the last two Alps Tour events in Morocco.

Rominger played golf at South Carolina from 2001 to 2004. He was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2002 and 2004 and earned PING All-Southeast Region honors in 2004. Rominger was also named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar in 2004.
