COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team (5-1) is ranked 24th in this week’s Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings and freshman Gira Schofield (Boca Raton, Fla.) jumped to 46th in singles from a tie for 59th.

In South Carolina’s 4-3 win over Clemson on Sunday, Schofield rallied to earn a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 upset of Frederica van Adrichem, then ranked 41st in the nation. Schofield is now 5-1 on the spring season playing in the first singles position for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina’s next matches are in Providence, R.I., and Boston against Brown on Feb. 25 and 13th-ranked Harvard on Feb. 26, respectively.
