Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina baseball program has announced the signing of 18 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the November early signing period. The class is highlighted by seven recruits from the state of South Carolina and includes nine high school and nine junior college signees.

“This is an outstanding class with numerous potential draft choices,” said head coach Ray Tanner. “The talent level in this group will make an immediate impact as we continue to compete for SEC championships, postseason NCAA berths and a return to the College World Series.”

The South Carolina baseball recruiting classes have been ranked first nationally by Collegiate Baseball two of the last three seasons. South Carolina heads into the 2006 season fresh off its sixth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. Over the last six years, Carolina owns the third highest win total in NCAA Division I baseball with a 301-110 record. The Gamecocks have made three trips to the College World Series (2002, 2003, 2004), reached five NCAA Super Regionals (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), captured three SEC Eastern Division titles (2000, 2002, 2003), won two SEC regular season championships (2000, 2002) and earned one SEC Tournament title (2004).
