The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team travels to New York, N.Y. Saturday to compete in the USTA National Collegiate Invitational Tournament. Coach Arlo Elkins and the Gamecocks will face some of the best tennis competition in the country.
The Gamecocks opened up their fall season last weekend at the Furman Fall Classic, where freshmen Gira Schofield and Natasa Vuckovic took home second place finishes in their prospective flights. Redshirt sophomore, Grace Blakely, took home a fourth place finish in her flight.
Coach Elkins hopes to give his freshmen more collegiate experience. Competing against the top competition in the country will help make the Gamecocks true competitors in the Southeastern Conference.
Draws for the tournament are not available. Results for the tournament will be available Tuesday on the website, www.uscsports.com.
