The women’s tennis team will participate in the MS 150 Breakaway to the Beach Bike Tour on Saturday, September 24, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosts its annual bike tour September 24-25, 2005. Thousands of riders will participate in a 100-mile per day charity bike ride that covers Weddington, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Throughout the race there will be rest stops every six to 10 miles, mechanical support, and massage therapists. The women’s tennis team will be at the first rest stop in the area, which is at Harvest Baptist Church, handing out food and beverages to the thousands of riders who stop for a rest. Among those riders will be USC’s very own, Arlo Elkins, head coach of the women’s tennis team.

The bike tour begins at 8:00 am and will go on until all riders have arrived in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Each participant must raise at least $200. Last year, the MS 150 Breakaway to the Beach Bike Tour event was able to raise over $1.8 million for Multiple Sclerosis and had 2,063 riders.
