FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s golf “B” team finished fourth at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament, played at the Country Club of South Carolina (par 72, 7,062-yards), in Florence on Tuesday. The Gamecocks shot a 291 in the final round and finished with a score of 864 in the tournament.

“After watching these guys play the last two days, I’m impressed with them,” head coach Puggy Blackmon said. “We basically took four freshmen and a sophomore and had three of them tie for 12th. They played like seasoned veterans, and they were very consistent. Our throw-out rounds were 74-73-75. I think that says a lot about the depth we’re going to have this year. There is going to be a lot of competition for spots because of that.”

Redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning (Aiken, S.C.) and freshmen Allen Koon (Bamberg, S.C,) and Baker Elmore (Cheraw, S.C.) all tied for 12th with three-round total of 215. Cunning and Elmore both fired 72s on Tuesday and Koon carded a 73.

Freshman Mark Silvers (Savannah, Ga.) shot 74 in the final round and placed in a tie for 30th with a score of 220. Redshirt sophomore David Kite was one stroke back at 221 after firing a third round 75.
