Chapel Hill, N.C. – South Carolina sits in ninth place after two days at the Franklin Street Partners Women’s Golf Invitational at the University of North Carolina Finley Golf Course.

The Gamecocks finished Saturday’s action with a combined team score of 313.

Leading the way for South Carolina was freshman Blythe Worley, who shot a two-over-par 74. Worley birdied the par four seventh hole, and added two more birdies on 17 and 18.

Jenna Pearson got off to a solid start, picking up a pair of birdies on holes number two and three to counter off a bogey on the par-four first hole. Pearson sat at even par through the first 10 holes, but bogeyed six of the last eight holes to finish the round with a six-over-par 78.

Fresh off a solid performance in Friday’s opening round, Irmo native Erica Battle finished Saturday with a five-over 77. The highlight of her day was a birdie on the par-five 13th hole.

Junior Laura McCaslin and freshman Whitney Simons also competed Saturday, with both players coming in at 12 over par.

Final round action resumes Sunday.
