Dave Odom, South Carolina: * It was a key win for us. I am proud of this team. It was a quality win for us. The key stat was our rebounding total — 52-23. Why? How? Eighteen offensive rebounds. They only had nine. When you can force their offense to the perimeter, they force long shots that cause long rebounds. Fortunately, we were able to do that. It wasn’t a clean ending for . This time of the year, playing like that against a team like Temple; you have to be pleased with the win. Thirteen rebounds for Carlos Powell. I’m very proud of that. Tre Kelley gave us some quality minutes. Stephen McDowell — he’s going to be a good player for us. We need to teach him more about playing the game at this level. Rolando Balkman was much too casual with the basketball. At times, he didn’t pay attention to protecting the basketball. When he did pay attention, he gave us eight rebounds and 10 points. This win may be a confidence-builder for us. But, the team doesn’t seem as confident as it needs to be right now. The number of rebounds and number of possessions over-rode the 18 turnovers we had. Carlos Powell — it may be his best three-game stretch. Good shot selection is such a key for him.”

John Chaney, Temple: “There are certain rules that I have. One of the biggest is that I don’t allow cell phones or head phones on the bus. There is no talking on my bus. We had two players (Wayne Marshall, Mardy Collins) that started a domino effect on this team. If you don’t punish them now, you can’t do it at the end of the season. These are the two players that we run our offense through. We didn’t have flu shots this year. I want my players to wear skull caps. In this kind of weather, you better make sure your players stay healthy. It may sound simple to you guys, but it’s a major problem for me. When your two guys, who control the game, aren’t playing, you have poor assists and no passing the ball, it’s (offense) not working. There’s no passing and it’s one on one. We had the wrong guys running the breaks. We shot more – they were bad shots, individual shots, and when that happens – you don’t take care of the ball. When you miss the shots that are bad shots, it gives you bad defensive balance. Not having those two guys hurt us.”
