Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina junior RHP Billy Buckner has been named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball following his performance last Saturday afternoon in South Carolina’s 5-2 win vs. Clemson. Buckner worked a career-high seven 2/3 innings and struck out 16 batters, one short of a school record and allowed just two runs on three hits. Buckner is 3-0 on the year with a 3.27 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.

South Carolina is 12-0 on the year and moved up to No. 4 in the nation in the latest Collegiate Baseball Poll released this afternoon. South Carolina begins a nine-game homestand this Tuesday vs. Yale in the first of a two-game set with the Bulldogs.
