Baseball Hosts Georgia in SEC Weekend Series
The Gamecocks and Bulldogs start the series Friday night at 7 p.m.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team opens a seven-game homestand this weekend, facing No. 14 Georgia at Founders Park. The series opens on Friday night (April 8) at 7 p.m. with Saturday’s game (April 9) at 4 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday, April 10 at 12 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s games will be on SEC Network Plus with Sunday’s game on SEC Network with Roy Philpott and Roddy Jones on the call. All games also will be broadcast on the Gamecock Sports Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. The Gamecocks are coming off a 15-2 win over No. 22 North Carolina on Wednesday night in Charlotte. Jack Mahoney hit a three-run home run, Braylen Wimmer had three hits and Aidan Hunter struck out six in four innings to collect the win.

Shuttle parking for the University of South Carolina baseball season will be operational at the Key Road Gravel Lot (1105 Key Road). Shuttle begins two (2) hours prior to first pitch and continues until 1 hour after the game.

SCOUTING GEORGIA
The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-3 loss at Clemson in the midweek. Before that, Georgia swept Florida in Athens, including a walk-off win last Thursday at Foley Field. Georgia is led offensively by Connor Tate’s .375 batting average and 11 doubles. Corey Collins has a team best seven home runs. On the mound, Jack Gowen is 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA and three saves for the Bulldogs.
SERIES VS. GEORGIA
Carolina leads the all-time series with Georgia, 67-64, as the Gamecocks won 2-of-3 games at Georgia in 2021. Will Sanders pitched eight-plus innings to earn the win in the series finale while Wes Clarke had three hits, including a home run, in Saturday’s 13-7 win.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION IN UNC WIN
The Gamecocks set season highs in runs (15) and RBI (13) and tied a season high in hits (14) in a 15-2 win over North Carolina April 6 in Charlotte. Braylen Wimmer had three hits on the night, Brandt Belk drove in a pair, including his ninth double of the season and Jack Mahoney belted a three-run home run in his first start of 2022. Ten different players had hits in the game, including the first career hit for Jalen Vasquez and first career RBI for Evan Stone.
SEC LEADERS
Brandt Belk is tied for third with 10 stolen bases while Will Sanders is second in the league with 43.2 innings pitched. Sanders is tied for ninth with 47 strikeouts. Cade Austin is tied for third in the SEC with 14 appearances and Aidan Hunter is tied for fifth with five wins.
