Softball Announces Addition of Pair of Transfers

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina softball head coach Beverly Smith announced the signing of two transfers on Wednesday (July 13) in Aniyah Black (Chauncey, Ga./Georgia) and Jenn Cummings (Redmond, Wash./Washington).

 

Aniyah Black

Black, a 5-11 outfielder and utility player, played two seasons at Georgia. Last season, she appeared in 39 games for the Bulldogs a season ago, while making 28 starts. She started 20 games in right field, while serving as the designated player in eight. She finished her second season in Athens hitting .258 with five doubles and five home runs. She drove in 22 runs while scoring 17 times. On four different occasions Black drove in three RBIs in a game and collected four multi-hit games.

 

Jenn Cummings

A 5-10 catcher and utility player, Cummings spent two seasons at Washington. She made 43 starts in 2022 for the Huskies and appeared in 47 games. She hit .250 on the year with a .405 on-base percentage. She led the team with 16 hit by pitches, which ranked 15th in the nation. She was also tied for the team lead with five sacrifices. Cummings ended the year with eight doubles, two home runs, six RBIs and 15 runs scored. She committed just one error in 320 chances, for a .997 fielding percentage behind the plate. She also threw out seven base runners on the season.
