Atlanta, Ga. – The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team ended the fall the season with the conclusion of the SEC Coaches Fall Classic on Sunday. The Gamecocks placed an individual or a doubles team in the semifinal of each flight that a member of the team competed in. The only Gamecocks to come out on top were Miranda Gutierrez and Ayako Suzuki in doubles.

Gutierrez and Suzuki defeated Laura Maurer and Christine Simpson of Kentucky 8-4 on Sunday in Atlanta, Ga. Maurer and Simpson were the number one seed in the B doubles tournament. In the A Doubles, Christyn Lucas and Magda Wojdylo finished fourth of 16 double teams after falling to Sarah Foster and Joel Schewnk of Kentucky.

“We had a good weekend in Atlanta competing against the rest of the SEC,” said USC Head Coach Arlo Elkins. “Some of our younger players have gained experience this fall and returning players have improved from last year and hopefully that will carry over into the spring.”
