Boesel And Maguire Earn SEC Honors
Duo recognized by the conference for their efforts in SEC play this year
BIRMINGHAM, AL. —- South Carolina softball’s Mackenzie Boesel and Kenzi Maguire were honored by the Southeastern Conference for their efforts throughout the season, the league office announced today.
Boesel was named to the All-SEC Second Team while Maguire was selected to the All-SEC Defensive Team.
A graduate senior from Yorba Linda, Calif., Boesel hit a team-best .384 in 24 SEC games this season on 28 hits with 12 runs scored. She posted eight doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI. With the help of 13 walks, she finished with a .471 on-base percentage in conference play.
A three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American with a perfect 4.0 GPA her entire scholastic career, this is Boesel’s second time to be honored by the conference after she was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2018.
This marks the third time since 2015 the Gamecocks had at least one student-athlete named to the first or second team.
Maguire, a graduate senior from Hudson, Fla., hit .380 in 24 conference contests on 27 hits with 17 runs. She finished with four doubles, a home run and nine RBI. With the help of six walks and 10 hit by pitches, she finished SEC action with a .494 on-base percentage.
A CoSIDA Academic All-American, this is Maguire’s second time to be recognized by the SEC after she was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2018.
South Carolina is set to open the 2021 SEC Softball Tournament this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. ET against Auburn on SEC Network. The Gamecocks will be the designated visiting team on SEC Network with Eric Frede (play-by-play), Amanda Scarborough (analyst), and Jalyn Johnson (sideline reporter) on the call.

The winner of Tuesday’s contest will move on to face LSU 35 minutes after the conclusion of the first game of the day on Wednesday (which starts at noon ET between Ole Miss and Mississippi State) on SEC Network.
South Carolina is 1-1 this year against Auburn and has not faced LSU.
