The Gamecocks went 1-3 this weekend, defeating The Citadel before falling in three games at Texas.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team defeated The Citadel, 11-7, on Wednesday night before being swept at Texas this past weekend.

NOTES:
Carolina scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to overcome a 6-5 deficit in an 11-7 win on Wednesday night. Josiah Sightler drove in four runs in the win while Andrew Eyster had a two-run double in that frame.
 
Braylen Wimmer went 4-for-4 in the series finale at Texas, upping his season average to .395, which leads the team.
 
Wes Clarke now has an SEC and national leading nine home runs this season after his solo blast in Sunday’s series finale at Texas. Clarke is hitting .380 with 18 RBI on the year.
 
Thomas Farr struck out a career high 10 batters in Friday’s game at Texas. His previous career high was eight, set on Opening Day against Dayton this season. Farr went six innings on Friday, allowing just one run with one walk.
 
Jack Mahoney came in for a pair of relief appearances this weekend, striking out four in 2.2 innings of work. Mahoney now has a 0.87 ERA in 10.1 innings of work this season.
 
Carolina hosts Davidson on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and then opens SEC play this weekend at Vanderbilt.
