Baseball Heads to Athens For Three-Game Set at Georgia
The Gamecocks and Bulldogs start the three-game series Friday night at 6 p.m.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team heads to Athens, Ga., for a three-game set at Georgia. Friday’s game begins at 6 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday’s games starting at 2 and 1 p.m., respectively. All three games will be streamed on SEC Network Plus. Every Gamecock contest will be on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. Carolina is coming off a 9-4 win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night as Wes Clarke, George Callil and Brady Allen all homered and Jack Mahoney struck out six in four innings of work.

SCOUTING GEORGIA
The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-0 win over Clemson on Tuesday night. Eight pitchers combined for the five-hit shutout while Riley King and Connor Tate had two hits apiece. Tate leads Georgia with a .362 batting average while Corey Collins has a team-best 16 RBI. On the mound, Jaden Woods is 1-0 with a 4.21 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched. Georgia is 2-4 in the SEC with wins over Tennessee and Texas A&M.
SERIES VS. GEORGIA
Carolina leads the all-time series with Georgia, 65-63, but the Bulldogs have won the last six meetings. Georgia swept the Gamecocks in 2019 in Columbia. Andrew Eyster drove in a pair of runs in the 8-7 loss on Saturday in 2019.
GAMECOCKS SWEEP GATORS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2006
Carolina swept Florida for the first time since 2006 as the Gamecocks moved to 4-2 in SEC play. Friday’s game went 5:31 and 14 innings, capped off by a Colin Burgess RBI double for a 9-8 win. Brannon Jordan allowed one unearned run in seven innings and Wes Clarke belted a three-run home run in a 4-1 win on Saturday and the Gamecocks hit five home runs on Sunday in an 8-5 win. The sweep was the first for the Gamecocks in SEC play since Carolina won three games against LSU in 2018.
BURGESS THE HERO ON FRIDAY NIGHT
Colin Burgess hit an opposite-field double in the bottom of the 14th inning in a 9-8 win over Florida on March 26. The Gamecocks were trailing 8-7 going into the bottom of the 14th but got a game-tying home run from Andrew Eyster. Jeff Heinrich followed with a single to set up Burgess’ heroics. Burgess was named the SEC Newcomer of the Week, catching all 41 innings in four games while hitting .444 with a double and a home run.
