Baseball's Kerry Named to Stopper of the Year Watch List

The junior has eight saves in two seasons with the Gamecocks.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – University of South Carolina junior right-handed pitcher Brett Kerry has been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List, it was announced this morning (Friday, Feb. 19). Kerry was one of 45 pitchers in NCAA Division I baseball to make the list.
 
Kerry, who was a 2019 Freshman All-SEC selection and a consensus Freshman All-American, went 2-0 with a 3.60 earned-run average last season for the Gamecocks. Kerry earned the save in the win over Clemson, striking out a batter in two-thirds of an inning. He also had 12 strikeouts in five innings in a win over Holy Cross and picked up a win over Northwestern, striking out three in six innings of work.
 
For his two-year career, Kerry is 6-1 with a 2.82 ERA and eight saves in 28 appearances. He has 83 strikeouts in 73.1 innings pitched.
 
Kerry and the Gamecocks open the 2021 season today against Dayton. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
