Baseball's Sweatt Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM – University of South Carolina senior pitcher Wesley Sweatt has been named to the Southeastern Conference’s Baseball Community Service Team, it was announced by the league this afternoon (Wednesday, May 17).

Sweatt was one of South Carolina’s two winners of the SEC’s Brad Davis Community Service Award. He graduated in May with a degree in integrated information technology and is looking to enroll in graduate school starting in the 2023-24 academic year. Sweatt has been a great ambassador for the baseball program and the University of South Carolina and has been a steady contributor to the Gamecocks’ community service efforts through various projects, most notably with the Busbee Middle School Mentoring Program and with Oliver Gospel Mission.

In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the Southeastern Conference has highlighted a Community Service Team for baseball for the 2023 season. The conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.

Carolina ends the regular season with a three-game set against Tennessee at Founders Park. The series opens on Thursday night (May 18) at 7 p.m.
