COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina track and field has announced its 2021 schedule with a total of 16 meets, including the most home meets in program history. Carolina will host four indoor home meets and three outdoor meets throughout the season.

The 2021 campaign begins Jan. 16, indoors with the Gamecock Opener at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex and culminates Jun. 9-12, with the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field.

Head coach Curtis Frye’s program will host four indoor meets: the Gamecock Opener on Jan. 16, the Carolina Challenge on Jan. 23, the South Carolina Invitational from Feb. 5-6 and the USC Indoor Open on Feb. 13. One additional indoor regular season meets includes the Bob Pollock Meet in Clemson, S.C. on Jan. 29-30.

The indoor championship season begins with the SEC Indoor Championships from Feb. 25-27 that will be hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The top-16 qualifiers in each event will advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships, to be held March 12-13 also in Fayetteville, Ark.

Carolina’s outdoor season begins March 18-20 when it heads to Coastal Carolina for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational before returning home for the outdoor home opener, Weems Baskin Invitational, from March 26-27. South Carolina will also make the trip to Gainesville, Fla. for the Florida Relays from April 1-2.

Carolina hosts two additional home meets during the outdoor season. The Gamecock Invitational will be hosted on April 10 while the USC Open, which coincides with Senior Day, will take place on April 17.

Carolina’s championship drive in the outdoor season begins April 22-24, as the Gamecocks make their annual pilgrimage to the Penn Relays. This season’s edition is the 126th in the event’s illustrious history, and it will be the final preparation before the 2020 SEC Outdoor Championships, to be held May 13-15, in Bryan-College Station, Texas.

The outdoor championship season will see the top-48 individual qualifiers in each event, along with the top-24 relay teams, get their opportunity at the NCAA East Regional Preliminary Round, to be held May 27-29, in Lexington, Ky. The top-12 finishers at regionals qualify for the 2020 NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 9-12, in Eugene, Ore.
