Shelton, Mills Post Wins on Final Day of UT Fall Invite
Gamecocks Conclude First Weekend of Fall Play
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Emma Shelton and Elise Mills from the South Carolina women’s tennis team each won their singles matches on the final day of the UT Fall Invite on Sunday in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Gamecocks concluded play with seven matches in the morning against Georgia. Shelton defeated Morgan Coppoc from Georgia in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, while Mills scored a 7-6(5), 6-2 triumph over the Bulldogs’ Ariana Arseneault. Corina Spasojevic, Mia Horvit and Lindsay Tulenko fell in straights sets in their contests to Ania Hertel, Katarina Jokic and Alee Clayton. Silvia Chinellato and Megan Davies dropped their matches in three sets to Meg Kowalski and Marta Gonzalez.
Davies and Horvit went 2-1 in singles play for the weekend, and they teamed up for a 2-1 doubles record to lead the Gamecocks at the event.
South Carolina returns to action next weekend in Athens, Ga., when the Bulldogs host an event over Oct. 23-25.
