The 2020 Major League Baseball postseason for the Gamecocks in the Show wrapped up on Friday night as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the New York Yankees in game five of the ALDS. Here’s a wrap up of the postseason.
- Jordan Montgomery (New York Yankees) – Montgomery came up big for the Yankees in game four of the ALDS against the Rays in San Diego. The lefty pitched four innings, striking out four and allowing just three hits and a run as New York won 5-1 on Oct. 8 to stay alive in the postseason.
- Tyler Webb (St. Louis Cardinals) – Webb pitched in game two of the NL Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres on Oct. 1. The lefty pitched two-thirds on an inning, allowing a hit and a run. The Cardinals lost to the Padres in three games in the Wild Card.
Carolina had 11 players in the “Show” this season, including four (Wil Crowe, Max Schrock, Clarke Schmidt and Taylor Widener) who made their Major League debut. All-time, the Gamecocks have had 55 players in the Major Leagues.
