Gamecocks in the Show Update - August 17

Max Schrock's MLB debut highlights the update after four weeks of action.

The 2020 Major League Baseball season continues as nine Gamecock alums are currently in the Show after Max Schrock’s debut with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. Here’s a recap after four weeks of play.
 

  • Jackie Bradley Jr. (Boston Red Sox) – Bradley has played in 20 games for the Red Sox this season and has seven runs scored, three doubles and three RBI. He had a pair of hits against the Yankees on Aug. 14.
  • Grayson Greiner (Detroit Tigers) – Greiner has played in eight games for the Tigers with his best performance on Aug. 12 against the White Sox, driving in a pair with a double to right. Greiner has three runs scored, a pair of doubles and three RBI this season.
  • Whit Merrifield (Kansas City Royals) – Merrifield has played in all 22 games for the Royals this season, hitting .302 with five doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI. He has an OPS of .893 and was 3-for-4 with four RBI in a win over Minnesota on Aug. 15.
  • Jordan Montgomery (New York Yankees) – Montgomery had made three starts for the Yankees, going 2-1 with 10 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched. He earned the win on Aug. 11 against Atlanta, striking out four in six innings of work.
  • Max Schrock (St. Louis Cardinals) – Schrock made his MLB debut in a win over the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 15 and made the most of it, going 2-for-3 on the day.
  • Justin Smoak (Milwaukee Brewers) – Smoak has played in 18 games for the Brewers this season and has five doubles, two home runs and eight RBI. Both of Smoak’s home runs have come at Wrigley Field, including one in a win over the Cubs on Aug. 15.
  • Christian Walker (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Walker has played in 21 games for Arizona, hitting .291 with 10 doubles, a home runs and 11 RBI. He is second in the Majors in doubles and has a .797 OPS. Walker was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a win over San Diego on Aug. 15.
  • Tyler Webb (St. Louis Cardinals) – Webb has made four appearances for the Cardinals this season, striking out a pair of batters in 3.1 scoreless innings pitched. He pitched a scoreless frame in a win over the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 15.
  • Taylor Widener (Arizona Diamondbacks) – Widener has made five appearances for the Diamondbacks in 2020, striking out 11 batters in 9.1 innings pitched. He had three innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts vs. Houston on Aug. 4.
