Felicia Brown Edwards
Felicia Brown Edwards is entering her second season with the Gamecock Track & Field program, handling assistant duties for the sprints group alongside Head Coach Tim Hall. Edwards primary focus has been implementing practice regimes as well as getting the short sprints and short relay squads ready ahead of meet day.
Edwards competed at the top level for Coach Hall during his tenure at Tennessee, scoring all four years from 2013-16. In her first season with the Lady Vols in 2013, she placed sixth at the SEC Indoor Championship in the 4x400m relay. A sprint specialist, Edwards scored in three events at the 2014 SEC Outdoor Championship, including fourth in the 200m with a time of 23.20. As a junior in 2015, Edwards scored in two events in both the SEC Indoor and SEC Outdoor Championships, placing as high as fourth yet again in the outdoor title, running 22.78. Edwards capped off her stellar collegiate career with a pair of wins at the 2016 SEC Indoor Championship, winning the 200m (22.45) and the indoor 4x400m relay (3:30.56). That same season in 2016, Edwards won the Indoor 200m National Title when she clocked 22.47.
A ten-time All-American, Edwards still holds the Tennessee indoor records for both the 200m (22.45) and the 4x400m relay (3:30.56). Edwards also holds the school record in the outdoor 200m as well, running 22.26. Edwards was named a South USTFCCCA Regional Athlete during her time at Tennessee, in addition to earning 2016 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Women’s South Region Track Athlete of the Year for both indoor and outdoor. In 2016, Edwards was awarded Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Female Amateur Athlete of the Year. Following her conclusion at the collegiate level, Edwards remains in the Top 10 in Tennessee’s record books for both indoor and outdoor: 60m (indoor), 100m (outdoor) 200m (indoor & outdoor), 300m (indoor), 400m (indoor & outdoor), 4x100m (outdoor), and the 4x400m (indoor & outdoor).
Following her collegiate days, Edwards pursued a career in professional track & field, running for Adidas from 2016-19.
During her high school days, Edwards won the 2011 AAU Jr. Olympic Games 400m title as well as earned the 2012 USATF 200m National Title. She is a four-time record holder at MLK High School in Georgia, helping her high school win its first state title by scoring 10 points in 2011.
Edwards, formerly known as Brown, married her college sweetheart Wesley Edwards and the couple live in Columbia, S.C. with their two dogs Mario and Bella. Edwards is a 2016 graduate of Tennessee, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology & Criminal Justice.
