Hamner Moves On at All-American Championships
Cary, N.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis junior Sarah Hamner is moving on to the second round of the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C.
Hamner, ranked No. 25 in the country, faced Colorado State’s Radka Buzkova in her first round of play. The Gamecock fought a gritty first set, winning it 7-5 with a late break before battling a tight second set. The two competitiors traded games back and fourth, forcing the set to be deceived in a tiebreaker. In the breaker, Hamner dominated, shutting out her Ram counterpart to claim the second set 7-6(0).
Hamner now moves on to the second round where she will face No. 90 Kristina Novak of Oklahoma State. The two will battle at the Cary Tennis Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. A live stream of the match will be available here.
