Reckling, Singleton Jr. Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of South Carolina Track and Field student-athletes Darrell Singleton Jr. and Briana Reckling were named to the 2020 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Community Service Team, the conference announced on Tuesday. It is the first such honor for both athletes.
 
Singleton volunteered over 200 hours of his time during the 2019-20 academic year. He helped mentor middle School kids once a week. He helped out at the local shelter for the homeless serving lunch to those in need. Singleton volunteered time at the Ronald McDonald house during the holidays, spending time with kids that had various illnesses. Lastly, he was always available to help the South Carolina academic staff with anything they needed throughout the year.
 
On the track Singleton was one of Carolina’s top straight sprinters. Singleton competed at the SEC Indoor Championships and posted a new personal record of 6.71 in the 60m during the 2020 indoor campaign.
 
Reckling was a volunteer at the Greek Festival volunteer to begin the 2019-20 year. She was a Pawmetto Lifeline volunteer for three months in 2019, serving for eight hours every month. She served at the Growing Home Southeast and the Athletics Annual Fall Festival. Reckling is an ongoing volunteer at the Harvest hope Food Bank and has volunteered her time at the Hillside Senior Center and the Edward E. Taylor Elementary School.
 
Reckling competed in six track meets for the Gamecocks during the 2020 season. The South Oragne, N.J., native ran in the 400m, 600m and 800m during the season and holds a personal record of 2:15.34 in the 800m.
