Ochs Named SEC Freshman Of The Week
First honor in her career
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —- For her efforts over the past week during the Gamecock Invitational, South Carolina softball’s Karsen Ochs has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Ochs is the first Gamecock to be named SEC Freshman of the Week since Karly Heath in 2019 and earns the 17th honor in program history.
Ochs posted a perfect 3-0 record in the circle with a week highlighted by her complete-game shutout over No. 8 Michigan on Saturday during just her fourth career appearance. A native of Macon, Ga., she allowed just four hits overall in 11 innings of work and held right-handed batters to a .048 opposing batting average.
This is Ochs’ first career SEC Freshman of the Week honor.
