Greenhow, Ford Punch Tickets to 200m Finals
BOSTON, Mass. (March 8, 2024) – South Carolina Track & Field opened the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championship with three events on Friday afternoon at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The Gamecocks competed in three events, securing a spot in both the men and women’s 200-meter finals on Saturday.
Anthony Greenhow was the first to secure his place in the final, doing so out of heat two in the men’s 200m prelims. The veteran sprinter, competing in his first indoor championship, clocked 20.73 to finish second in his heat. Greenhow’s time was good enough for eighth overall, landing a spot in the finals at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday.
JaMeesia Ford, the NCAA leader in the 200m, cruised to the finals out of heat three after she clocked 22.45 for the fastest overall qualifying time. Ford, the freshman out of Fayetteville, N.C., will look to secure the crown at 7:50 p.m. tomorrow.
The Gamecocks will close out the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championship tomorrow, beginning with Dylan Targgart competing in the men’s shot put at 2:45 p.m. In addition to the pair of 200m finals, the remaining events for South Carolina will be Theo Mudzengerere in the triple jump (3:30 p.m.), Anass Essayi in the men’s 3,000 meter (5:00 p.m.) and the reigning SEC Indoor Champion 4x400m women’s relay squad closing the meet at 8:20 p.m.
