Power Display Lifts Baseball Past Presbyterian

COLUMBIA  – Dalton Reeves and Ethan Petry combined for four home runs and 11 RBI as the University of South Carolina baseball team defeated Presbyterian, 19-14, Tuesday night (March 26) at Founders Park.

Reeves belted a pair of three-run home runs, one in the first and one in the fourth. Petry had a two-run blast in the first and a two-run shot in the third. Petry also had an RBI single in the fifth.

Kennedy Jones was 3-for-3 with five runs scored and Blake Jackson had three this and two RBI.

Carolina scored runs in six of its eight innings, including a seven-run first frame that sent 11 men to the plate. Parker Noland and Jones also had home runs as the Gamecocks had six on the night.

Ty Good earned the win in relief, allowing a run in two innings. Carolina had nine pitchers on the night. Eddie Copper struck out five in a 2.2-inning start.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • Reeves made his first start as a Gamecock, as he was behind the plate against his former team in Presbyterian.
  • Petry also has reached base in the last 35 games dating back to last season.
  • Petry now has 35 home runs in his career and is in sole possession of 14th place on the all-time home run list.
  • The win was the 200th in head coach Mark Kingston’s tenure at Carolina.
