Carolina Prepped for First Fall Action

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s tennis team is ready to kick off a new season as it hosts the South Carolina Fall Innovational this weekend at the Carolina Tennis Center.
 
Playing for the first time on their new garnet courts, the Gamecocks will compete with North Florida and Winthrop Friday to Sunday.
 
There will be three singles draws – Gold, Silver and Bronze – with a back draw in each. As for doubles, the teams will compete in one bracket with a back draw.
 
Representing Carolina in the Gold draw is senior and No. 1-ranked Silvia Chinellato and junior No. 2 Megan Davies. Freshman Ana Luiza Cruz is also slated in the Gold draw.
 
Playing as the No. 1-ranked player in the Silver draw is freshman Emma Shelton and freshman Elise Mills as the No. 2. Junior Kennedy Wicker is also competing in the Silver draw.
 
In the Bronze draw, freshman Kendall Couch is set to play her first match as a Gamecock.
 
Pairing up in doubles will be: No. 1 Davies and Shelton, Cruz and Wicker, Couch and fellow freshman Gemma Heath, and No. 2 Chinellato and Mills.
 
SCHEDULE
 
Friday

  • 9:30 a.m. start with one round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles

 
Saturday

  • 8 a.m. start with one round of doubles followed by one round of singles

 
Sunday

  • 8 a.m. start with one round of doubles followed by one round of singles
