TULSA, Okla. – South Carolina junior Megan Davies competed for almost four hours in a nail-biter match on Monday in the first round of the Qualifying Draw at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships.

No. 125 Davies took the court opposite of Georgia’s No. 69-ranked Meg Kowalski for a tough, three-set match. Davies took the first set, 6-3. In an identical second set, the Bulldog came out on top, 6-3. Coming down to the final set, the two went back-and-forth, knotting at 6-6. Still playing close in the tiebreaker, Kowalski nabbed the win, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6).

Up next, Mia Horvit will represent the Gamecocks in the Main Draw. The Main Draw begins on Wednesday with the final not being played until Sunday, Oct. 13th. The men’s and women’s final will be aired on ESPN3.
